TIMEKODE is an Ottawa/Gatineau based event series and DJ crew who been have celebrating all things funky, soulful & innovative since 2005. Growing out of the local 00's era of DIY club night curators / party starters, TIMEKODE has become one of Ottawa / Gatineau's longest traditions of music and dancing. Over its 15 + years of monthly and special events, TK has consistently broken new ground for what's possible in the region's nightlife culture by constantly expanding the horizons of the dance floor musically, hosting legendary guests, and pioneering new spaces to get down.
The root of the name is in the bytes that began traveling through samplers and drum machines in the early eighties. MIDI timecode is the data that keeps sample loops, filtered basslines and drum hits moving in unison – it’s the glue that holds together a culture based on pulling together bits of the past to create the sounds of the future.
Our own take on it is a little broader. It’s about connecting the dots between the exciting rap, bass and house from the golden age of sample-based music. But it’s also celebrating the raw materials - the classic soul, funk, disco and reggae. And the pluralistic body-moving sounds from around the world that are emerging. It's about keeping the modern tradition of mixing music and dancing alive while exploring the freshest sounds of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The pandemic put things on pause, but TK returns in at the end of 2022, with renewed energy and auspicious ideas for the future of keeping in funky in this region. Lock in on socials and tell a friend. See you on the dance floor!

Host + DJ; Managing/Creative Director
Equal parts mind and music, you can find Memetic both behind the scenes planning TK's next moves, and in front of the crowd as the host + longtime DJ of TIMEKODE. Memetic's sets and productions are known for transporting listeners and dance floors through time and space, whether it's the city jumping TIMEKODE 10-inch vinyl series, or his renowned local bus route soundtrack RIDEAU2RICHMOND. Despite repping Ottawa / Gatineau proudly, over the years you may have caught him connecting the dots from the Agile Rabbit in Brixton, or rocking Studio Lam in Bangkok, broadcasting a guest spot on FM4 in Vienna or opening for Barack Obama at the Canadian Tire Centre.
ZATTAR
Founder + Emeritus; Wax Wizard
Founder of the enterprise, and stalwart of the Technics 1200's Zattar is a certified hometown hero and vinyl specialist. His taste and technique on the turntables has been hugely influential in the region whether starting the party at Disorganized in the early 00's, his command of the TIMEKODE dancefloor for over a decade, his TROPIKALO excursions, programming music for festivals, or his scintillating opening / guest spots at shows and events around Ottawa / Gatineau. His pandemic residency at Parlour helped Ottawa keep the funk alive during dark times.
TREVOR WALKER
OG/Legend; Longtime Affiliate + Inspiration
Trevor Walker is one of Canada's most respected and prolific DJ's and is one of the foundations of modern DJing in Ottawa / Gatineau. Rocking the region since the 80's his legendary runs on radio at CKCU-FM, 20 + year residency at the legendary Mercury Lounge, and myriad of stages shared with some of the biggest names in music over the years have solidified his legacy as the DJ in Ottawa for eclectic dance floor experiences. His infectious productions have been released on labels around the world. As one of TK's most frequent guests over the years and tacit partner in the crew's quest to keep it funky, it was natural to make it official as emerging from the pandemic.
SEIIIZI
Youngest In Charge; Event + Party Technician
Seiiizi is one of Ottawa / Gatineau's most exciting young talents. Thought she was a fixture on the dancefloor at alternative good music events around the city, it was in 2015 that she publicly stepped behind the decks and started to put down her own sound. Since then her reputation has grown every year as one of the creatives to keep an eye out for in Ottawa / Gatineau.
